Overview

Setting up a player account takes a few minutes: create your profile, verify your email, and pick a skill level. This page covers each step.

Creating your account

On the sign-up page you can create an account with Google, or fill in the form yourself with your full legal name, date of birth, phone number, country, email address and a password.

1. 1Choose Continue with Google, or fill in the form: name, date of birth, phone, country, email and password.
2. 2Passwords need at least 8 characters, an uppercase letter, a number and a special character, and can't contain your name.
3. 3Pick a skill level, and add your DUPR ID if you have one (optional).
4. 4Add your home court and submit to create your player profile.

Verifying your email

Creating an account (or signing in before you've verified) sends you to a verification screen and emails you a 6-digit code.

1. 1Check your email for the 6-digit code.
2. 2Enter it within 10 minutes of it being sent; codes expire after that.
3. 3If it expires, or you didn't get it, request a new one from the verification screen.

The platform waiver

Creating your player profile automatically records your acceptance of The Drop's platform waiver. There's no separate waiver step to click through during sign-up.

Skill level and DUPR ID

Skill level is a self-rating you choose from eight bands: Unknown / Unrated, 2.0-2.49, 2.5-2.99, 3.0-3.49, 3.5-3.99, 4.0-4.49, 4.5-4.99 and 5.0+. It's used behind the scenes as your rating, for example when a drop sets a minimum or maximum skill range for who can join.

DUPR ID is optional and self-reported: it's saved to your profile, but automatic verification against DUPR isn't live yet, so it isn't checked or corrected for you.
